Homelessness is a big problem globally and Australia is no exception. Our government needs to take a stand and help homelessness otherwise Australia’s poverty will horrendously increase over the coming years. In my essay I will be giving you reasons and convincing you why homelessness needs to stop.
One reason why it needs to stop is the community’s hygiene. If our country’s population is at least 50% homeless, lots of diseases will start to populate in our country and everyone will be in risk. If diseases do populate in our country, other insects like mosquitos will start to contract them and carry them so others who are not homeless will be infectious too. Diseases such as the zieka virus can cause major reproduction decline which is not good for the future generation to keep populating. Eventually Australia will turn out like Kantubek, Uzbekistan, which was abandoned because of a toxic substance called asbestos. Right now ABC NEWS states that our homelessness percentage is 17%, so you can see that it’s growing and if we don’t put a stop to it Australia is in massive risk. My second reason is the trauma we Australians are putting them through. Imagine living on the streets not knowing how you are going to get your next meal, it would be dreadful. Living on the streets with no protection could cause homicide and if the person can’t take it anymore, suicide is an option. Australia’s suicide rate is 12 per 100,000 and will fluctuate over the next 10 or so years according to MINDFRAME. If Australia wants to stop that, first they need to stop homelessness. In trauma there comes stress and some symptoms that effect the human body come with stress such as evaluated blood pressure. Evaluated blood pressure has probably the worst effect on the human body and can cause heart attacks. The government doesn’t understand what homeless people are going through and if they read this maybe they will change how they deal with this complication. My third and final reason is Australia’s reputation. If tourists travel to Australia and their first impression will be that this country doesn’t handle homelessness very well and that will not be a nice look for the government. Tourists travel to Australia constantly on iconic boats like the QE2 and the EMERALD PRINCESS and they won’t think Australia is worth all that money to travel to. Most major state capitals are affected by homelessness because there are more charity that can help them. Australia needs to lower tax and build more commission houses so we can put a stop to homelessness. So in conclusion Australia’s hygiene, mental health and reputation is at risk and that’s why we as a community need to help the homeless. |
