Everyday someone has died from cancer or is diagnosed with cancer around the world. There is over 20 different types of cancer caused from different things. Smoking is a leading cause of cancer and may even lead to death. Smoking causes cancer of the lung, and many more types of cancers. There are some cancers that can be cured but not 100% guaranteed. And others that can cause slow deaths and some that make a sudden death. I’m writing this piece of work because my Aunty died from cancer and my younger cousin Sam had cancer. I’m going to talk about Sam at the moment. Sam is my little cousin but he’s not so little anymore. One night after dinner Sam started to find it harder to breathe. So his Mum and Dad took him straight to the hospital for his breathing. Once they got to the hospital the doctor said that he had something pressing against his throat so he had to take a tablet until tomorrow. The next day Sam, his Mum, his Dad and sister Ella drove into the hospital but on the way they dropped Ella off at her friend’s house Sophie. Once they reached the hospital they went to see the doctor that night before. After a few tests they thought he had throat cancer, because it wasn’t definite the doctor suggested to go to Melbourne for more tests. As soon as they picked Ella up and got home they were on the internet for aeroplanes tickets and hotels. When Ella offered to stay at our Nan and Pops Ella’s Mum thought that was a good idea, so Ella and Sam’s Mum Louise was on the phone to our Nan and Pop. They thought that that was a good idea as well. Once Ella was dropped off at our Nan and pops house Louise, Jason their Dad, and Sam drove to the airport and got on an aeroplane. Once they reached Melbourne they dropped their bags at the hotel and went straight to the hospital. As they got out of the taxi and walked into the waiting room and sat down. The doctor came over to them straight away since the other doctor sent a message to him he said to fellow him them for bigger tests. A week had gone by and Sam was moving into another room to get ready for chemo therapy as much as Sam didn’t want to he had no choice. As time went by Sam had lost most of his hair he also had a scare on his chest from where they had to operate and he also moved back to the hospital in Hobart. One day I remember coming into his own room in the hospital and he was jumping around while watching a ninja movie. It made my Mum, Dad and myself smile. Still Sam had to have scans and tests done every month, until his 12 month. When the doctor said he didn’t have to have any more tests done because he was clear from cancer. It was so good for him it was amazing. A few years have passed it is so amazing to see Sam so fit and healthy its extraordinary. When I’m older I hope to donate money towards cures for cancer so nobody has to go through what my family and I did. But always remember that you’re no different than anyone else. So if cancer started the battle for you, make sure you’re the one finish the battle of cancer.
